Our Story

Welcome to our home!

Our Delta Gamma Chapter was founded at the University of Northern Colorado on April 24th, 1960.  Before our chapter was founded, the original fraternity adopted the colors of Silver and Bordeaux, while also designating our symbols as the ivy leaf, and forget-me-not flower. The friendships formed in Alpha Phi are life long and genuine, showing the significance of our public motto is "Union Hand in Hand."

The very first Alpha Phi Chapter was founded on October 10, 1872 at Syracuse University. Our founders were 10 women “whose brave hearts were filled with a noble purpose and whose eyes saw clearly into the future.” They envisioned a far-reaching sisterly network that benefited all members of Alpha Phi and women everywhere. At the beginning, our founders were unaware of the existence of any other women’s fraternity, and so they followed no precedents and broke down unimaginable barriers.  Their innovative leadership and organizational practices set the standard for the Alpha Phi of the present. We are a sisterhood that values the past, embraces the present, and looks forward to the future.
